Anti-government protests in Iran have entered a third day today after Tehran finally abandoned its pretence and admitted shooting down a passenger jet.  Dozens of protesters gathered and chanted slogans at a Tehran university today amid a wave of public anger after the plane was shot down with dozens of Iranians on board.   The UK Government will tell Iran’s ambassador in London it has “strong objections” to the arrest of the UK’s top diplomat in Tehran. Campuses across India erupted in protest yesterday after a nationalist mob wielding iron rods stormed one of the country’s most prestigious universities, beating students and teachers and injuring dozens. Terrified students barricaded themselves in rooms or leapt from balconies to escape as dozens of masked men rampaged through Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi for several hours targeting Muslims. Among the victims was a blind man who was mercilessly beaten.
