Hours after he was acquitted by a court and ordered free from more than two years in jail, a high-profile Turkish philanthropist was re-arrested on separate charges in a case that has raised questions about the rule of law in Turkey.
A surprise court decision Tuesday to order Osman Kavala, 63, and eight other defendants freed on charges of undermining Turkey’s national security by taking part in the 2013 Gezi park anti-government protests prompted applause in the courtroom.
Violinist Amanda, 30, had a half-sleeve mandala-style design inked on her left arm – from the top of her shoulder down to her elbow.
Hours later, the black pigment flaked off and Amanda flaunted the dark design on her arm as she and IT programmer Nick, 30, explored the capital.
“My understanding, my very clear understanding, from the very top levels of the Malaysian government is that from very, very early on here they thought it was a murder-suicide by the pilot,” Mr Abbott said.
“I’m not going to say who said what to whom, but let me reiterate — I want to be absolutely crystal clear — it was understood at the highest levels that this was almost certainly murder-suicide by the pilot. Mass murder-suicide by the pilot.”

The government intends to launch a “comprehensive” campaign to prepare employers for the transformation in January next year when EU citizens will be treated the same as other nationals.
However, the new policy drew immediate criticism from employers, particularly over the addition of waiters, waitresses and “elementary” agriculture and fishery workers to the list of low-skilled workers.
