Two men have been taken to hospital in critical condition after a shooting in north Dublin on Friday.

The men were driving in a car in the St Margaret’s area of the city, near the airport, when multiple shots were fired around midday.

In the years that followed, Ulasevich watched as the gigantic cooling towers and system blocks of Belarus’ first nuclear station took shape. Construction, which was led by the Russian state nuclear agency Rosatom, would be far from straightforward. A string of incidents delayed its opening, but the first reactor is finally due to go online early 2020.

To say the construction of the Belarusian nuclear plant has been controversial would be to trivialise the history of these lands.

Yemen’s President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi told the military on Sunday it needs to be on high alert following the attack.

The attack “confirms without doubt that the Houthis have no desire for peace”, he said in a statement.

The commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz risks being dragged into a row between Russia and its east European neighbours over responsibility for the outbreak of the war. It has erupted as Putin prepares to mark the anniversary in May of the defeat of Nazi Germany with a spectacular event in Red Square.

The row centres on the Kremlin’s attempts to justify the pact the Soviet Union made with Germany in August 1939, weeks before the war began, which turned the two ideological foes into allies and paved the way for Hitler and Stalin to carve up Poland, the Baltic states and other parts of central Europe.

The case hinges on a 25 July phone call with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in which Trump asked his counterpart to do him a “favour” and investigate both a conspiracy theory concerning election interference and ties between former vice-president Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, and the eastern European country.

Biden remains a possible Democratic candidate for president. At the time of the Ukraine call, Trump was withholding from Kyiv nearly $400m of military aid and the prospect of a White House meeting for Zelenskiy.
